Steve Lake, former journalist, Melody Maker, London

Having said all that the album I've heard most often in the last two years has been, without doubt and by far, University of Errors' "Jet Propelled Photographs". A songs album. My son, 10 at the time it came out,  fastened on this disc with relentlessness and played it day in, day out. Non-stop. He played it in the morning and at night. We had to take it on holiday with us. The experience of hearing a child sing "You've got to save yourself" every breakfast time made me start to wonder about the potency of the baraka Idries Shah was sprinkling over Daevid Allen back at Robert Graves's place all those years ago…
I tried to wean the kid off of UofE with the Gomelsky sessions. He wasn't having it. "Bah! Horrible! Play the *real* versions…"

University of Errors Poetry Uncontest
submission by Thom The World Poet, M.o.E. Austin, Texas

My feet have never touched this earth
that litters paper/plastic/dogshit
My eyes see only cities-walls,buses,buildings
My ears hear only static-radio,traffic,noise speech
My nose points like on a leash
Where is the wonder of release?
Mania binds and crazed minds repeat cliches
of a world ideal as Hallmark
Readers Digested thoughts
TIME /NEWSWEEK cliches
Soon as we start believing in the tele-visions
a tele-evangelist becomes a Tele-Tubby
and blows his congregation away
with a spray of demonic images
The REAL world need s REMAKE
A renovation-to replace the FAKED
with something elegant as pure air
silence,and the creak of trees
Somewhere,there is river sans salt
Water sans fluoride/chlorine
Free as mountains before uranium mines
Somewhere,a dream begins again
but only when seed becomes tree
becomes branch ,becomes bird
becomes sky,becomes cloud
to rain down changes necessary as light
uncensored and  unveiled
as if for the very first time
